A Strategic Initiative to Expose and Counter Islamist Extremism
Jihad Alert is a multidisciplinary initiative led by the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs (JCFA) to expose, disrupt, and counter Islamist-extremist ideologies, networks, and infrastructures operating in Europe and the United States, and their strategic connections to the Middle East. The project addresses a critical gap in Western understanding: the mistaken tendency to misinterpret the Iranian regime and Palestinian-led global assault on Israel and the West as primarily driven by political or territorial grievances, rather than religiously and ideologically fueled jihad.
JCFA’s Jihad Alert monitors extremist actors and networks engaged in incitement, recruitment, radicalization, propaganda, and illicit financing, including activities supporting designated terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Hizbullah, and the Houthis, as well as other Iranian regime proxies, alongside Sunni extremist state and non-state actors linked to Turkey and Qatar. The initiative is explicit in its guiding principle: it targets violent extremist ideologies and infrastructures, and actively partners with moderate Muslim voices and reformist regional actors.
The Urgency
The strategic problem Jihad Alert confronts is the growth of a multi-dimensional “quiet jihad” in Western societies. This includes coordinated ideological messaging that normalizes violence and delegitimizes democratic values; sophisticated media ecosystems leveraging social platforms and influencers; financial networks operating through NGOs and front organizations; and social penetration into campuses and community spaces. Much of this activity deliberately operates below criminal thresholds, exploiting legal gray zones, enforcement gaps, and information overload.
What Jihad Alert Aims to Accomplish
JCFA’s response is to turn verified information into action. Jihad Alert combines Arabic-language OSINT analysis, investigative research, and strategic communications to produce regular exposure reports, media content, documentaries, and public briefings. These are paired with policy and diplomatic engagement, advocacy tours, and partnerships with lawmakers, regulators, financial-compliance bodies, technology platforms, faith communities, and academic institutions.
JCFA’s central goal is to amplify expert voices from within the Middle East – moderate imams, Muslim reformers, and former jihadists and regional minorities – who dismantle extremist narratives using religious and experiential authority. In parallel, Jihad Alert supports media, legal, diplomatic, and economic disruption, preparing evidence packages for authorities to enable enforcement where warranted.
